Virco Renews Its Torrance HQ Lease
Industrial: A facility in Torrance housing the Virco Manufacturing headquarters.

Virco Manufacturing, a manufacturer of furniture and equipment for K-12 schools – most notable for creating the top-selling and most recognized school chair in America – has renewed its 559,000-square-foot lease in Torrance, maintaining its South Bay headquarters.

The lease, which was extended by just under five and a half years, was signed with building owner and operator Prologis, a leader in logistics real estate. It is located at 2027 Harpers Way and features 50,000 square feet of office space, 750 parking spaces, 36 dock-high positions, three ground-level doors and up to 30 feet clear height – all attractive amenities to swiftly aid in the transfer of shipping products.

Prologis announced plans to install solar panels to the facility next year, which will maximize Virco’s energy efficiency and decrease its consumption bill.

“Due to Prologis’ incredible commitment to its customers, we were able to structure this lease for Virco to keep them in this location for years to come without any disruption to its operations,” David Prior, senior managing director at Torrance-based industrial real estate brokerage The Klabin Co., said in a statement. “The ability to install solar panels as part of the lease renewal also played a key role.”

This is the first lease renewal for The Klabin Co. that involves the installation of solar panels for a client’s energy consumption.

Prior represented Virco along with Klabin Principal Todd Taugner. Frank Schulz, managing principal also at The Klabin Co., represented Prologis in the deal.
