El Segundo-based title and escrow company Endpoint has received a $40 million investment from parent company First American Financial Corp.

Endpoint, which announced the funding on Nov. 11, has now raised $70 million in total.

“Our increased investment affirms our commitment to developing innovative, state-of-the-art technologies that improve the process of transacting real estate,” Dennis Gilmore, chief executive of First American Financial, said in a statement.

Endpoint will use the money to hire additional staff, develop technology and expand into new markets.

Endpoint currently operates in California, Arizona and Seattle, where it first launched. It has doubled its employee base this year.

Endpoint’s technology aims to change the closing experience for real estate agents, buyers and sellers by simplifying the process and providing a secure way to close on properties.

“Today’s home buyers and sellers live, work and play predominantly online, where they expect a certain level of convenience and speed. Endpoint combines innovative technology with the expertise of experienced escrow officers and provides a digital compass for the most significant purchase of a home buyer’s lifetime,” Endpoint Chief Executive Scott Martino said in a statement.

“Our team is committed to supporting real estate agents and their clients as they navigate this process, while rapidly and conveniently completing their transactions,” he added.

The Endpoint software can be used on the web, iOS and Android apps.

The company launched a redesigned interface earlier this month for the software. Features of the revamp include transaction management and activity tracking.

“There are a number of companies attempting to deploy technology to speed up the digitization of the real estate transaction,” Paul Hurst, managing director of Venture Investments at First American Financial Corp., said in a statement. “Endpoint has already validated the demand for, and the functionality of, its product and is now broadening its focus to fundamentally simplify and automate the escrow process across all states, with the support of First American.”
