CIM Group is leasing a two-story development in West Adams to serve as the headquarters for a new podcast network from Emmy-winning journalist Jemele Hill and talent representative Evan Dick.
The 3,679-square-foot space at 5563 W. Adams Blvd. will be home to Hill's “Unbothered Network,” which will launch on Spotify, according to a June 28 announcement. The development includes an open floor plan, floor-to-ceiling glass, and framing of concrete and steel.
The West Adams neighborhood has become attractive for media and entertainment companies.
“My team and I were very intentional in choosing the West Adams area to make our creative home. This is where the black enclave Sugar Hill once thrived, and we hope that we can continue the tradition started by those black creatives whose sweat equity is still embedded into the DNA of this community,” Hill said in a statement.
West Adams is also home to creative office space. The Depot, a planned office campus at 3609 10th Ave. from the Luzzatto Co., secured $54.7 million in construction financing in late May.
Another creative office project from Luzzatto called Exposition 3 received a construction loan of $49 million in October. The project is transforming a former industrial site into two buildings totaling 94,000 square feet. It’s expected to be finished in 2022.
The federal government deemed most of the West Adams neighborhood an opportunity zone, which are low-income areas where investors may receive tax benefits to foster economic development. Plans for numerous projects in the neighborhood were submitted by CIM Group last October.
