Art gallery Hauser & Wirth has signed a 10-year lease for a 10,800-square-foot building in West Hollywood.

Avison Young Inc.’s Christopher Bonbright and Conroy Commercial Inc.’s Lauren Aboulafia represented the landlord, Will Enterprises Inc., in the transaction.

Creative Space’s Tyler Stonebreaker and Geoffrey Anenberg represented Hauser & Wirth, which is based in Zurich.

The building, at 8980 Santa Monica Blvd., was built in 1931. For 30 years, it was home to Heritage Classics Motorcar Co. The vintage auto dealer has moved its operations online.

“While L.A. has long been an epicenter for the art community worldwide, both artists and art dealers locally are definitely experiencing a very special moment right now,” Bonbright said in a statement. “With collectors spending more time at home, L.A. has emerged as the place where many immersed in the art world want to be.”

The space, which will be designed by Selldorf Architects’ Annabelle Selldorf, is being renovated and is expected to open in fall 2022. It will have a 5,000-square-foot art gallery and restaurant.

This marks the second location in the L.A. area for Hauser & Wirth and ArtForm, a hospitality company owned by the co-presidents of Hauser & Wirth, Iwan and Manuela Wirth.

The other location, in the Arts District, is also the location of the restaurant Manuela, which opened in March 2016. Selldorf also designed the Arts District space.

Hauser & Wirth’s Arts District location is at 901 E. 3rd St. in the Globe Mills complex, a group of restored buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Hauser & Wirth isn’t the only tenant to sign onto a West Hollywood space. Earlier in June FabFitFun Inc. signed a multiyear agreement to establish a 55,000-square-foot headquarters at the WeWork Cos. Inc. location in the Pacific Design Center.
