Bruce Munster, a member of the Business Journal’s LA500 for his work as a principal at the Munster Freeman Group, an M&A advisory group with Bank of America subsidiary Merrill Lynch, stepped out recently to support a good cause. Munster was part of an event in Beverly Hills celebrating the 10th anniversary of Peter Singer’s influential book “The Life You Can Save: How to Do Your Part to End World Poverty.” Singer spoke to a number of business and civic leaders who gathered to hear about his organization’s charity work. The evening resonated with Munster. “We believe that all lives have equal value,” he said. “It really hit home, and as I learn more and I have seen the impact of this charity, we felt it was important to (support the organization).”

Speaking of LA500 members, Blank Rome Partner Stacy Phillips has a message about the important role the media can play when it comes to improving diversity. Phillips, who focuses on family law and represents high-profile clients in divorce and custody proceedings, is no stranger to dealing with the press. “We all know that diversity and inclusion drives profits and ethos in a company,” Phillips said at a recent event. “The press can help to drive diversity and inclusion by having women and men quoted equally. The press can lead.” Duly noted.

’Tis the season for visiting relatives, but if you need an escape from incoming in-laws we’re gifting you our favorite pitch of the week. It comes from the Petit Ermitage Hotel in West Hollywood, which is offering an “Escape Your Family” holiday package, complete with a “bottle of red wine to drink away your sorrows” and a “passive-aggressive staff member upon request to make you feel at home.”

If you’re looking for a place to grab a drink this season — or any time of year — you should know that the Peninsula Beverly Hills is home to one of the world’s best bars. That’s according to Forbes Travel Guide, which recently included the Peninsula’s Club Bar on its list of 2019’s Best Hotel Bars. Just 44 joints made the worldwide list, and the Club Bar was the only spot in L.A. to make the cut.
