Smosh announced that it is moving to new 17,000-square-foot corporate headquarters that will contain a studio where talent can create content for its YouTube comedy network.
The Beverly Hills-based company, which is owned by Mythical Venture Inc., first made the announcement Feb. 24 on its Instagram channel. A press release indicated that Smosh’s new content studio is equipped with two full-service soundstages and a live streaming studio for the network’s live shows, which will be broadcast on Twitch.
First conceived in 2002 when co-founder Anthony Padilla created an eponymous website for flash animation, Smosh was launched in earnest in 2005 by Padilla and Ian Hecox as a YouTube channel for comedy endeavors. It has since grown into a network of channels with more than 46 million subscribers, and its social channels are followed by more than 30 million individuals.
The company also plans to develop and produce approximately 500 videos in 2022 across its various channels, including Smosh, Smosh Pit and Smosh Games.
“This new facility is the perfect place for creative talent to come together, collaborate and make comedy videos for every digital and social platform,” Smosh Chief Executive Daniel Tibbets said in a statement. “I’m excited for Smosh’s future, and the new studio is just the beginning.”
