Live Nation Settles Litigation, Acquires Songkick Assets

Live Nation president Joe Berchtold

Live Nation Entertainment in Beverly Hills and Complete Entertainment Resources Group Inc. and related entities formerly known as Songkick (CERG) have announced that Live Nation has acquired some assets from CERG, including CERG’s ticketing commerce platform, anti-scalping algorithm, API application and patent portfolio.

The companies also said in a statement that they have agreed to a settlement resolving litigation. The case was scheduled to go to trial later this month.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed in the announcement. Live Nation was reportedly sued by Brooklyn-based Songkick, a ticketing start-up that filed an antitrust suit against Live Nation two years ago. The suit was reportedly settled for $110 million, as well as an additional undisclosed sum to acquire some of Songkick’s technology assets and patents.

CERG was founded in 2008 as a concert discovery and artist ticketing platform. In July 2017, CERG sold the Songkick discovery platform to Warner Music Group and in October closed its artist ticketing business.

“We are pleased that we were able to resolve this dispute and avoid protracted and costly legal proceedings, while also acquiring valuable assets,” Live Nation president Joe Berchtold said, in the statement.
