Exploding Kittens Partners on Game
“You Lying Sack” is a new game.

Exploding Kittens, an entertainment and gaming company based in Fairfax, is partnering with Penn & Teller’s Penn Jillette for a new game called “You Lying Sack.”
The game, which costs $19.99, takes around 15 minutes to play and is available on Exploding Kittens’ website and will be carried at Walmart beginning in January.

In the game, competitors must grab a “Good Thing” or “Bad Thing” from a sack and then look at their opponents and either bluff or tell the truth about what they have, the goal being to get rid of the “Bad Thing” items. People are eliminated if they have 10 “Bad Thing” pieces.

“While I’ve made a living as a magician, at my core I’m really just a professional liar who plays within the lines between the truth and lies – and that was the inspiration of the game,” Jillette said in a statement. “You Lying Sack is all about lying, cheating, and swindling your friends and family. You’ll have to do mental gymnastics to win the game, so may the best liar win.”

Jillette is a famous magician, best known for being half of the famous Penn & Teller duo with Teller, a magician known for not speaking during performances.
Jillette has also published eight books.

“Everything you love about Penn is in this box,” Elan Lee, chief executive and co-creator of Exploding Kittens, said in a statement. “We worked with Penn to design a game that celebrates the skill required to fool a friend. We knew we were done with the design the moment Penn finished playing a game and shouted, ‘Let’s play again!’”

Lee, a former Xbox game designer, founded the company in 2015 with Matthew Inman, founder of The Oatmeal. The company raised $8.7 million in 30 days on Kickstarter. It is the most-backed project in Kickstarter history, according to the company.
The company now has nearly 30 games.
