Anakwenze Launches Online Show

Belva Anakwenze is taking her experience counseling entertainment professionals to the world of video.

Anakwenze, the principal at Abacus Financial Business Management Inc. in Palms, has partnered with Patreon on “The Earn Up” series available now on Patreon’s Creator YouTube channel. The show premiered on Aug. 30.

For the series, Anakwenze lends her expertise to help creators manage their small businesses so that they can focus on what they do best – create, according to a release from Anakwenze.

In the premiere episode, she answers some of the most pressing questions that creators have around business management and finance, including how to scale their business, how best to save for retirement and whether an LLC, S-Corp. or sole proprietorship is right for their creative business.

Hitomi Aihara, producer of “The Earn Up,” said in a statement that “knowing the issues that creators face and knowing the best way to speak on those issues is a unique experience that Belva was really able to infuse into the show.”

Anakwenze said that her passion has always been educating marginalized communities, including emerging creative entrepreneurs, on financial literacy..
“‘The Earn Up’, in partnership with Patreon, is the perfect platform to deliver educational content in a relaxed, fun, and easy-to-digest manner,” she added in a statement.

Patreon, based in San Francisco, is a service for creatives – musicians, videographers, writers, etc. – that allows then to earn a monthly income by providing rewards and perks to their subscribers, or patrons.

Anakwenze is the principal at Abacus Financial and a financial educator and entertainment business manager for creatives, many of whom come from marginalized communities. Her clients have included actor Jay Ellis, who recently appeared in “Top Gun: Maverick,” and Kevin Frazier, a former correspondent on “Entertainment Tonight” and founder of HipHollywood.com, a website for urban entertainment news.
