Connekkt Media, an Indian media and entertainment technology company, has acquired Mob Scene, a Los Angeles marketing agency specializing in doing work for film studios, TV networks and streaming services.
Terms of the deal between Connekkt in Mumbai and Mob Scene in Mid-Wilshire were not disclosed.
Founded by Tom Grane in 2006, Mob Scene’s creative capabilities include large-scale production, trailers, promos, branded content, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes added value content.
Some of the company’s work includes featurettes for “A Complete Unknown,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Barbie” and “Despicable Me 4.”
Connekkt was started in 2015 by Varun Mathur and Saurabh Mishra and has grown into one of Asia’s largest and most successful media and entertainment companies.
Leadership will remain at Mob Scene
Under the new agreement, Grane, co-founder and chief executive of Mob Scene, will remain at the company.
“This partnership will allow us to push the boundaries of storytelling, expand our reach into dynamic new markets, and continue delivering innovative, emotionally compelling campaigns that resonate with audiences worldwide,” Grane said in a statement.
As a global media company with its origin in India, this acquisition marks a strategic expansion for Connekkt into the United States and the rest of North America, Mathur added.
“With the unique combination of Mob Scene’s industry leading creative marketing capability and our class leading technology we will be able to deliver outstanding value to our clients and consumers by driving targeted and measurable marketing impact across mediums, geographies and formats,” he said in a statement.
Connekkt already has a presence in Los Angeles as it occupies space in the same office building on Wilshire Boulevard as Mob Scene.
