Gilmore is the owner of Gilmore Associates, a downtown-based development company specializing in residential and commercial assets. Gilmore was an early player in the redevelopment of downtown’s historic core area, where his company has built more than 200 rental lofts and 266 condos.
What’s the best advice you ever got?
Years ago, my mom told me to trust my heart, and I guess that turned out to be the most important advice of all.
What was your first car?
1963 Oldsmobile Delta 88.
Like to have it back?
It was a huge gas guzzler, so I think the guilt factor would prohibit me from having it now.
What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles?
There’s still so much opportunity for anyone who wants to make a new world for themselves here.
