Now in her 30th year in the industry, Hyodo is Grant Thornton’s Los Angeles market managing partner. An audit professional by training, she has also provided advisory services to clients, ranging from internal control design and compliance, process improvement, forensic work, and mergers and acquisitions. Hyodo helps recruit clientele and strengthen those relationships among major studios and media companies. She has also served on Grant Thornton’s Partnership Board, overseeing the management and strategy of a 9,000-person firm.
What’s the best advice you ever got?
The best advice I ever received was “avoid the noise and focus on what is in your control or your 20 square feet.”
What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category?
My favorite movie is “Unforgiven.”
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
To visit the Maldives.
What was your first car?
My first car was a red Ford Escort.
Like to have it back?
I wouldn’t like to have my first car back. Sentimental value aside, it was unfortunately a lemon.
What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles?
The cultural diversity, including the food.
And the worst?
The lack of an efficient public transit system, which leads to significant traffic congestion.
