Winfrey amassed a fortune estimated at $2.8 billion by Forbes magazine from a multimedia business built around her celebrity. In January of last year Winfrey was announced to star in WWII all-women battalion movie “Six Triple Eight” from mega-producer Tyler Perry. OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network continues in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. Her personal enterprise Harpo (that’s Oprah spelled backwards) is concentrated in Los Angeles. Harpo was founded in 1990, after her Chicago-based syndicated TV talk show became a national sensation. In 2013, Winfrey was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.
