Zimmer drives what is Hollywood’s second largest talent agency according to last year’s Business Journal list with 250 agents in L.A. County. He has been instrumental in the company’s moves into areas including music, digital talent, fine arts and esports. UTA is in an expansion mode after arranging an investment in July 2022 from EQT Private Equity, which became its largest outside shareholder. The talent agency, entertainment and sports company opened an office in Atlanta in March of last year, which became its sixth office city. It created a fashion division in February of 2023. In the past two years, Zimmer bulked up the core talent representation business with the acquisitions of publishing agency Fletcher & Co. and leading UK talent and literary agency Curtis Brown Group. As chief executive since 2012, Zimmer has driven the agency’s growth and evolution into a diversified global company. He oversaw United Talent’s 2019 investment in sports agency KLUTCH Sports Group and the 2021 acquisition of media and brand advisory firm MediaLink. In 2019, Zimmer was named the chair of The Veterans Fund, an initiative to build housing for the country’s military veterans in Los Angeles. He was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame in 2017 and is a member of the Cable TV Pioneers Class of 2018. He is a recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award, the UJA-Federation of New York’s Steven J. Ross Humanitarian Award and Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications Fred Dressler Leadership Award.
