Bjork, who is office managing partner of the downtown and Century City locations of Latham & Watkins LLP, represents public and private companies, creditors and investors in all aspects of restructuring. He is a fellow at the American College of Bankruptcy, and most recently was named Dealmaker of the Year by The American Lawyer in 2023 for leading Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in its chapter 11 restructuring.
What’s the best advice you ever got? As a young associate, a partner told me to ‘own’ every matter, from the smallest to the biggest. Doing your best even on the most mundane task will translate to greater responsibility, client interaction and more meaningful assignments in the future. He was right.
What’s at the top of your bucket list? Playing a round (or three) at Augusta National.
What was your first car? Like to have it back? My first car was a 1973 Volkswagen Bug. My wife’s first car was a 1974 Volkswagen convertible Bug. We completely restored her car, and it still leaks oil. So, no, I do not wish I had my Bug back.
What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles? I love to surf and ski, and I am a Los Angeles native. The best part of about living in Los Angeles is the proximity to the surf and the mountains.
