President, Chief Executive, PIH Health
West joined PIH Health in 2000 and became president and chief executive officer in 2004. The organization has experienced significant expansion; it now comprises three hospitals –located in Downey, downtown Los Angeles, and Whittier – a multi-specialty medical group, more than 30 outpatient medical offices and seven urgent care centers. Last year, PIH Health opened a retail pharmacy in the PIH Health Downey Hospital campus, and completed renovations to its downtown building.
What’s the best advice you ever got?
Time is short – make a decision and move on.
What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category?
I do not have one favorite movie, but every year around Thanksgiving I will always watch “Uncle Buck,” and at Christmas, “White Christmas.”
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
A cruise around the world.
What was your first car? Would you like to have it back?
Volkswagen Scirocco. It was a great car then, but I wouldn’t want it now.
What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles?
The food and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital.
And the worst?
L.A. traffic.
