Conoley was installed as CSU Long Beach’s president in 2014 – the first woman to hold the role. She was formerly interim chancellor of University of California, Riverside after the resignation of Tim White. Conoley has also held faculty positions at Texas Woman’s University and Syracuse University. Conoley has authored or edited 22 books; her primary research interests are interventions with children with disabilities – especially emotional disturbance and aggressive children and youth – and family intervention. Her most recent work investigates the application of the science of positive psychology to educational settings. Conoley has also served as a fellow of the American Psychological Association for Pyschological Science and was a member of the American Educational Research Association and the Society for the Study of School Psychology. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the College of New Rochelle and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
