Architect, Gehry Partners
At age 95, the famed architect remains as busy as ever, especially in his firm’s home town. In February, ground was broken on the Gehry-designed $335 million Colburn Center to replace an aging concert hall at the Colburn School. The project is on Grand Avenue, just steps away from the world-famous Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Grand L.A., a $1 billion project with a residential tower also designed by Gehry which opened in 2022. Other recent Gehry projects around Los Angeles County include the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles building in Inglewood (2021) and the Children’s Institute in Watts (2022). The Pritzker Prize-winning architect formed his current architectural partnership, Gehry Partners, in 2001. He is known for his unconventional designs.
