LA500: Stuart Waldman

President, Valley Industry and Commerce Association

“Waldman is the president of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, also known as VICA, a leading business advocacy organization. He previously spent 11 years working for the state assembly as a representative for the San Fernando Valley, including seven years as a chief of staff. Waldman was an appointed member on the California Board of Accountancy from 2001 to 2008 and is a U.S. Army veteran. Outside his work at VICA, his board appointments include the California State University Northridge Foundation, the Los Angeles Press Club and LA28, the latter of which is helping the city prepare for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What’s the best advice you ever got? Leaders listen.

What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category? “The Breakfast Club.”

What’s at the top of your bucket list? Watching the opening ceremony of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles in person.

What was your first car? A Subaru.

Would you like to have it back? No.

What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles? There is so much to do. You can see any sport or any show. And the weather. We really forget how lucky we are.
