Wiggins was chosen in 2021 to lead the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She manages an annual budget of about $9 billion and leads an agency of more than 11,000 employees. Wiggins has worked at Metro for a collective 14 years, including a three-year-appointment as its deputy chief executive. She briefly left in late 2018 to serve a two-year stint as chief executive of Metrolink and returned to Metro in 2021. Last year, Metro announced that its 2024 budget includes nearly $1.9 billion of total bus investments, an investment of more than $200 million specifically in cleaning efforts for the transit system and $291 million to increase its customer safety measures and systems.
