Mayor, City of Inglewood
Butts was elected mayor of Inglewood in 2010 and was reelected in 2014, 2018 and 2022. During that span, SoFi Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, was constructed, and hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2021. A new home for the Clippers, called Intuit Dome, is under construction and expected to open this year. Both Intuit Dome and SoFi Stadium will host part of the 2028 Summer Olympics, including the opening and closing ceremonies at SoFi. Butts spent 19 years on the Inglewood Police Department and was Santa Monica’s police chief for 15 years.
