Nathanson is the chair of Mapleton Investments, a Beverly Hills-based investment holding company that ranges north of $1 billion in assets. The firm’s real estate arm, Mapleton Properties, holds a real estate portfolio primarily across California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada. According to its website, the portfolio is valued at over $710 million. Prior to founding Mapleton, Nathanson founded Falcon Holding Group, a collection of cable companies. He sold the group in 1999 for $3.7 billion. Today, Nathanson serves as the U.S. Ambassador to Norway after being appointed by President Joe Biden in June 2022. The Business Journal estimated his net worth to be $2.4 billion last year on the Wealthiest Angelenos list. His family has also invested in numerous sports teams, including the National Women’s Soccer League team Angel City FC in Los Angeles. He has endowed two fellowships at the University of Denver and USC and has been a patron of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
