Harman founded Avante in 2009, and has since grown its private credit and equity funds to manage $900 million in capital. The firm makes debt and equity investments to finance buyouts, minority recapitalizations and acquisitions. Last year, the boutique asset management firm Pacific Current Group purchased a minority stake in Avante for an undisclosed amount. Harman has over 40 years of financing and private transaction experience involving over $2 billion in aggregate investments. Immediately prior to Avante, she led the Los Angeles offices for investment funds American Capital and Allied Capital. Today, she is also the chairman of the board at NN Inc., a North Carolina-based manufacturing company.

The best advice I ever got was to surround myself with a team of people smarter than me.

Don’t have one.

What’s at the top of your bucket list?
Visiting more countries I haven’t been to yet (Norway, Spain…).

VW Bug.
