Dunford oversees Umpquoa’s commercial banking for the Greater Los Angeles area. Since establishing the Portland-based bank’s operation here in 2016, Dunford has grown his team to 20 professionals. He specializes in advising middle-market and upper-middle-market commercial insurance, apparel, pharmaceutical and real estate companies. Dunford counseled several Los Angeles schools on tax-exempt bonds to raise funds for the increased enrollment seen during the tail-end of the pandemic. He also works with his alma mater, Utah State University, where he attended business school, and has held various alumni board positions. Through his network of universities and schools he has secured scholarships for several students.

What’s the best advice you ever got?
You make your own breaks but do everything you can to help others achieve their dreams.

What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category?
“Fletch.”

What’s at the top of your bucket list?
To sail to Sydney, Australia.

What was your first car?
1971 Plymouth Duster.

Like to have it back?
(No but I would like to have) my 1967 VW bug that I sold to get to Los Angeles when I graduated from college.

What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles?
It’s my home.
