Ressler co-founded Ares in 1997 alongside John Kissick, Michael Arougheti, David Kaplan and Bennett Rosenthal. Prior to Ares, he co-founded Apollo Management LP, where he led its capital markets activities focused on high-yield bonds, leveraged loans and distressed debt. He began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert, climbing the ladder to senior vice president in its bond department before its bankruptcy in 1990. Today he is the chair of the alternative investment manager’s executive management committee and serves as a member of investment committees for certain funds managed by Ares subsidiaries. The Century City-based corporation reports $419 billion in assets under management, as well as approximately 2,850 employees in offices around the world. Last year Ressler ranked No. 14 on the Business Journal’s Wealthiest Angelenos list with an estimated net worth of $6.4 billion. He is a board member of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Georgetown University and the executive committee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
