Santana became the California Community Foundation’s top leader last year; the organization oversees $2.3 billion in assets and partners with nearly 2,000 charitable foundations, legacies and funds. Santana previously served as president and chief executive of the Weingart Foundation, which is based in downtown, and was the top administrative officer for the City of Los Angeles, where he managed an annual budget of $9 billion and created the design for the city’s homeless strategy. He was also a deputy chief executive for Los Angeles County. During his time with the city he oversaw programs for veterans and the homeless. Sanatana has a B.A. in sociology and Latin American studies from Whittier College and a MPA in public administration from Harvard University.
