Fleming, who specializes in the modern history of Greece and the Mediterranean, took over at the Getty Trust in 2022. The organization, one of the most respected and wealthiest art institutions in the world, has an endowment estimated at $9 billion. Fleming’s tenure at the trust has been marked with, among other accomplishments, the accolade of “Acquisition of the Year” for 2023 by Apollo Magazine for the purchase of “Portrait of Mai (Omai)” by Sir Joshua Reynolds. She has a B.A. from Barnard College, an M.A. from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley.
