Co-Founder, The Broad Foundation
Broad is a legend in the philanthropic world, and not solely based on the back of the estimated $4 billion she (and her late husband, Eli Broad) has donated so far. The Broad Foundation, which she and her spouse founded in the late 1960s, centers public education, the arts, public policy, libraries and the performing arts. The couple also established The Broad Prize, The Broad Center, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and the Broad Medical Research Program, the latter of which is now part of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. The Broad, a contemporary art museum in downtown, recently announced a $100 million expansion. The Broads were among the first individuals to sign the Giving Pledge, making a commitment to donate 75% of their wealth during their lifetimes.
