Trio of Logistics Firms Join Forces

Three logistics companies, including Long Beach-based ACI Logistix, combine under the holding company FAST Group.

A new holding company has formed in Long Beach to unite three different logistics operations under one roof.

FAST Group brings together FirstMile, a shipping network optimizer based in Salt Lake City; ACI Logistix, a small parcel direct-to-consumer platform based in Long Beach; and Sendle, an Australian carbon-neutral shipping service. FAST will be helmed by Chief Executive Keith Somers, who is also chief executive of ACI.

“Each of these three companies have a proud history of cultivating distinct strengths and deep insights into their respective customer needs,” he said in a statement. “By combining our capabilities under FAST Group, we’re creating a complete and powerful logistics ecosystem that can support customers through their entire growth path, as they adapt and compete in an ever-evolving e-commerce landscape.”

Uniting brands

Each company will continue to operate under their individual brands but coordinated amongst themselves and shared clients. Representatives from all three will compose FAST’s board.

FirstMile brings a mid-market specialty to the mix and a nationwide parcel pickup infrastructure. ACI’s logistics infrastructure includes automation, sortation and delivery services. And Sendle kicks in its carbon-neutral network and international footprint.

“This strategic merger will bring added benefits for customers across all segments – SMB, mid-market and enterprise – through improved first mile pickups, faster and complete national distribution and integrated customer support,” Somers said. “It also presents exciting opportunities for our partners, including other carriers and technology providers, as we look to deliver more services, more innovation and more national impact.”
