Shell Enlists AECOM

Century City-based infrastructure services firm AECOM has been chosen by Shell Retail to deliver 200 fast-charging devices for electric vehicles throughout the Netherlands, AECOM announced earlier this month. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 150-kilowatt fast chargers can fully charge vehicles in less than 15 minutes, roughly three times faster than standard 50-kW charging devices. This makes it easier for people to charge their cars on the go though it’s still not as fast as the two to three minutes it takes to fill a vehicle tank with gasoline.

Shell Retail is a unit of Royal Dutch Shell, which is headquartered in the Hague, the administrative capital of the Netherlands.

AECOM has previously worked with Shell Retail to install 50-kW electric vehicle charging devices in the Netherlands. For this effort, AECOM will be providing engineering, design, procurement and construction management for the installation of the fast-charging devices.

“This is an important step Shell is taking to achieve a lower carbon transport system for communities across the country and we are delighted to be a part of it,” Bruno Haerens, Netherlands country manager at AECOM, said in a statement.
