Cedars-Sinai Health System and Pasadena Hospital, also known as Huntington Memorial Hospital, have agreed to share medical and research resources.

The partnership was announced by the institutions on March 9.

Cedars may also provide Huntington with additional resources, such information technology, in the future.

Cedars is comprised of a network of hospitals totaling 1,883 beds — Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Grove, Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Providence Tarzana Medical Center, the California Rehabilitation Institute in Century City and the Torrance Memorial Center.

Huntington Hospital is a 619-bed not-for-profit institution, also known locally as Huntington Memorial Hospital, or HMH. It is affiliated with the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine.

“After reviewing a variety of alternatives, it became clear to our board that connecting our trusted brand of care to Cedars-Sinai Health System is the right choice to secure our future, enabling us to continue to provide high-quality care to the community for years to come,” Jaynie Studenmund, Huntington Hospital’s chairwoman, said in the announcement.

This is the latest move in Cedars’ recent drive to expand its services and geographic reach throughout Southern California. It has bought or entered into joint ownership or affiliation agreements with five medical institutions over the past five years.
