Water Consulting and Engineering Firm Tetra Tech Inc. announced today it was chosen as one of seven contractors eligible to receive up to $400 million in federal dollars to aid the environmental cleanup of old U.S. Army bases.

The contract guarantees the Pasadena-based water resource and consulting firm will face a limited pool of competition for five years.

The contract was awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Tetra Tech will provide groundwater analysis and hazardous material extraction plans on behalf of the Corps to the Department of Defense.

Tetra Tech’s Chief Executive Dan Batrack said the new contract was right in the company’s wheelhouse.

“Tetra Tech’s technical experts have decades of experience performing remediation work for DOD to address a wide spectrum of environmental contaminants,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech chairman and chief executive. “We look forward to continuing our longstanding support to DOD and the Corps of Engineers by providing environmental cleanup services and sustainable solutions at federal facilities throughout the country.”

At closing Monday, Tetra Tech shares were up 1.7 percent to $39.05.
