Levine Lichtman Acquires Water Services Company

Beverly Hills-based private equity firm Levine Lichtman Capital Partners has acquired Texas-based water services firm USA Water. The financial terms of the deal, which was announced Feb. 22, were undisclosed.

Levine Leichtman bought an equity stake previously held by the Florida-based Warren Equity Partners. USA Water’s Chief Executive Jeff Haley and his management team remain, keeping a “significant” equity ownership of the company, according to Levine Leichtman.

“USA Water has built a stellar reputation due to its ‘customer first’ culture and best-in-class service capabilities, which have driven an incredibly loyal client base and a long-term track record of consistent growth,” said Matthew Rich, a partner at Levine Leichtman. “We are excited to work with Jeff and the USA Water team to broaden the company’s service capabilities and geographic footprint through both organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions.”

Levine Leichtman has carved a niche in rolling up companies in the fragmented municipality and utility services industry. Over the past decade, the firm built out a platform for the business-to-business regulatory compliance space, spanning fire protection to commercial trucking training programs.

Its latest exit from this sphere was last year’s sale of SK AeroSafety, an independent provider of aircraft safety inspections, to Bridgepoint for an undisclosed amount.

“(Levine Leichtman) has an established track record as an excellent partner to management teams, and we’re eager to leverage their deep industry knowledge and operational expertise in order to deliver more value to our customers through our essential services,” said Haley.
