Farmers & Merchants Bank, Ares Management Name Directors to Boards
JoAnn M. Bourne

A commercial bank and global alternative asset manager in L.A. County named a total of three directors to their boards on Tuesday.

Long Beach-based Farmers & Merchants Bank named JoAnn M. Bourne and Christine A. Scheuneman to its seven-member board of directors, succeeding William G. Hayter and Timothy W. Jackert, who are retiring from the board after serving for 31 years and 13 years, respectively.

Bourne, who becomes a member of the bank’s audit committee, is a retired senior executive vice president at San Francisco-based MUFG Union Bank, which is the U.S. banking arm of Japanese holding company Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc.

Scheuneman, who becomes a member of the bank’s risk and compliance committee, is a recently retired partner with the New York City-based law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

The only woman to precede Bourne and Scheuneman on the board was Linda McLaughlin, who served on the board from 1989 to 1990

Farmers & Merchants has 25 branches and $7.3 billion in assets.

Century City–based global alternative asset manager Ares Management Corp., which has roughly $125 billion of assets under management, announced the appointment of Antoinette Bush to its nine-member board of directors as an independent director.

Bush is currently the executive vice president and global head of government affairs for News Corp. Prior to joining News Corp in 2013, she held various positions at New York City-based law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom.
