L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced Tuesday that a Calabasas financial software company is relocating to nearby Warner Center, bringing 50 jobs to the city.
Blackline Systems Inc., which sells balance sheet reconciliation software, will be moving its headquarters in April. The company was lured in part by Los Angeles’ new business tax holiday program, which allows companies moving into the city to receive a three-year exemption from business taxes.
“We’ve had an incredibly positive experience working with City Hall and have been amazed at how truly pro-business the City of Los Angeles is,” Mario Spanicciati, executive vice president of operations, said in a statement.
The company’s new offices also will be in a state enterprise zone, making it eligible for tax credits of up to $37,000 for each new hire. However, in his budget proposal, Gov. Jerry Brown has targeted enterprise zones for elimination, putting the credits in doubt.
Villaraigosa welcomed Blackline’s decision to move to Warner Center in a prepared statement.
“Blackline Systems’ move to Los Angeles highlights the larger trend of businesses moving to our city to take advantage of our competitive business policies such as the state enterprise zone program and the business tax holiday,” he said.
