Pasadena engineering firm Tetra Tech Inc. has extended its reach to “The Last Frontier” through the acquisition of Alaskan high-end climate data analysis manager Axiom Data Science.
Axiom conducts climate science modeling to help clients “manage, integrate and visualize large-scale complex data sets that are essential to addressing climate change,” according to a March 8 announcement from Tetra Tech on the acquisition. The Anchorage-based company supports federal, private, academic, and non-governmental organizations in ecological, geological, and ocean sciences to improve management and impact of their scientific data resources.
“We are honored to join Tetra Tech and work with their exceptional team of scientists and engineers to provide best-in-class data analytics solutions to address climate change impacts,” said Axiom Data Science founder and Chief Executive Rob Bochenek in a statement. “(Joining Tetra Tech) will further enhance our ability to provide highly specialized solutions to our clients, while offering new opportunities for our employees to work on water and environment programs worldwide.”
The acquisition of Axiom, which will join Tetra Tech’s Government Services group, expands the Pasadena firm’s analytics capabilities in oceans and ecosystems “to advance climate science for clients, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration,” according to Tetra Tech Chairman and Chief Executive Dan Batrack.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Employing 21,000 globally, Tetra Tech
reported first-quarter revenue of $679 million.
