Alhambra and Cerritos have taken top honors this year for the most business-friendly cities in Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. Wednesday evening gave the awards to the two cities as part of its annual economic development awards gala. Alhambra received the nod for cities with more than 60,000 residents, while Cerritos took the top spot among the county’s smaller cities.

“The cities of Alhambra and Cerritos best represent what can be achieved when our city governments work with the business community to create business-friendly environments where jobs can grow,” said LAEDC Chief Executive Bill Allen.

Among the criteria the LAEDC looked at: commitment to economic development, efforts to help businesses grow and expand, and having competitive business tax and fee structures.

Alhambra beat out Carson, Downey, Torrance, West Covina and Whittier in the large cities category. Cerritos won over Azusa, Commerce, Duarte, La Mirada and Monrovia in the small cities category.

Last year, Long Beach and Santa Fe Springs took the honors for most business-friendly cities.
