DEBORAH FERRINGTON
Chief Scientific Officer
Doheny Eye Institute
With more than 20 years of experience in academic research, Deborah Ferrington, PhD, is globally recognized for her groundbreaking research on age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness among the elderly. As Doheny Eye Institute’s chief scientific officer (CSO) and the Stephen J. Ryan – Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation Endowed Presidential Chair, she guides the scientific community of Doheny in its mission to further the field of vision research.
With limited and largely ineffective treatment options available to most AMD patients, there is an urgent need for new therapeutic strategies, which is the focus of Dr. Ferrington’s research. Her research offers new insights and is expanding the boundaries of what we understand about eye diseases.
