Irene Kim, MD, is director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center at Cedars-Sinai, one of the largest transplant programs in the US. Dr. Kim—who holds the Esther and Mark Schulman chair in Surgery and Transplantation Medicine—also is surgical director of Cedars-Sinai’s Kidney Transplant Program, professor of Surgery and director of the Division of Transplant. She joined Cedars-Sinai after earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, followed by a residency in general surgery at Tufts Medical Center and a fellowship in abdominal transplantation at Stanford University.
Over the past 12 years at Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Kim has cemented the Comprehensive Transplant Center’s reputation for accepting the most complex, high-risk patients.
