HON. TERESA SANCHEZGORDON (RET.) JOINS ARC AFTER 20+ YEARS ON THE LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR COURT
Judge Teresa Sanchez-Gordon has joined Alternative Resolution Centers (ARC) following a distinguished career spanning more than two decades on the Los Angeles Superior Court. Her extensive legal experience and commitment to public service position her as a key asset to ARC’s mission of providing effective and efficient dispute resolution services.
Elected to the East Los Angeles Municipal Court in 1996, Judge Sanchez-Gordon made history as the first Mexican-American woman to serve as the Presiding Judge of that court. She subsequently served as the site judge at the Alhambra Superior Courthouse before being elevated to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2000. Over her 17-year tenure at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, Judge Sanchez-Gordon presided over various civil and complex cases.
Judge Sanchez-Gordon was known for her dedication to achieving fair and timely resolutions throughout her judicial career. As a judge and a settlement officer, she successfully conducted numerous Mandatory Settlement Conferences, achieving high settlement rates and demonstrating a steadfast commitment to resolving disputes outside of trial.
In 2024, Judge Sanchez-Gordon was appointed Commissioner of the Los Angeles Police Department, further underscoring her lifelong dedication to public service and her efforts to better her community.
