LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY AWARDS: Merlo

Merlo

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is proud to announce the election of Silvano Merlo as Board Chair. Mr. Merlo, a retired Marriott International executive and longtime Board member, succeeds Gary Kirkpatrick, who continues on the Board after three years of dedicated leadership as Chair.

The Food Bank also welcomes two distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors: Jeremy Kleiner, Co-President of Plan B Entertainment, and investor and philanthropist Thomas Spear. Their expertise arrives as the organization continues to scale its impact across Los Angeles County.

As leadership evolves, the Food Bank expresses deep gratitude to Michael Montgomery and Mark Stegemoeller. Having reached their Board term limits, both have transitioned to the Food Bank’s Emeritus Council to provide ongoing counsel.

At its recent annual luncheon, the Food Bank celebrated the exceptional contributions of several partners:

• Fighting Hunger Giving Hope Lifetime Achievement Award: Debbie Decker, Barbara Howell, Margarita Alvarez Gomez, and Rev. Marsha Harris.

• Tony Collier Award: Pastor Norman Johnson and Loretta Johnson of First New Christian Church.

• Community Spirit Award: Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena (PazNaz).

• Community Partner Award: South Bay Workforce Investment Board.

• Dennis Winston Memorial Leadership Award: Keith Addis.

Through these leadership transitions and the dedication of our honorees, the Food Bank remains steadfast in its mission to mobilize resources and provide food for those facing food insecurity in our community.
