Burnham

Kyle Burnham has been promoted to Regional Director of Preconstruction for Southern California. Since joining Swinerton in 2010 as an Intern PE, Kyle has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and a deep commitment to excellence. After starting his career in OCLA operations on complex projects, he transitioned into estimating and preconstruction for OCLA SPD, where for the past eight years he has built a strong team driving estimating, preconstruction, and work procurement efforts. His portfolio includes some of the region’s most complex and high-profile projects, including several Fortune 500 confidential clients and multiple adaptive reuse and seismic retrofit projects, where his expertise as a licensed Civil Engineer brings immense value. In his new role, Kyle will oversee all design and preconstruction phase services across Southern California, with a regional focus on the markets Swinerton serves, while continuing to elevate standards of excellence and client service.

Giambastaini

Brian Giambastaini was recently promoted to Director of Preconstruction for Swinerton’s California Healthcare market focus—a strategic move that strengthens its dedicated statewide healthcare group and reinforces their commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions. In this role, Brian leads preconstruction efforts across California, aligning operations, estimating, and scheduling to ensure projects meet financial and scheduling goals while providing strategic leadership and client assurance. His expertise has driven major projects in Southern California, including USC Keck Hospital Cardio Expansion, DOCS Orthopedic Hospital, Palomar Behavioral Health Hospital, and Prime Desert Valley Hospital ED Expansion, positioning Swinerton as a trusted partner in California’s evolving healthcare market.

With over 30 years in the construction industry, Darren offers expertise across all phases of construction, from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout. Introduced to the industry at a young age by his mother, who worked for a scaffolding company, Darren has built a career spanning both the East and West coasts. His portfolio includes healthcare, entertainment, life sciences, mixed-use, multifamily, and residential markets, with projects ranging from $70 million to $750 million, such as the Venetian Casino and Resort in Las Vegas and the Henry J. Carter Long Term Acute Care Hospital in New York. As a Project Executive, Darren collaborates closely with client representatives to achieve project goals while supporting the project team in all aspects of preconstruction and construction.

Laakso

Jeff Laakso joined Swinerton as a Project Executive in 2025, bringing valuable experience from a Life Science contractor. His addition strengthens Swinerton’s ability to expand its Life Science expertise and enhance its resume as the company continues building its brand in the Los Angeles and Orange County markets. Jeff provides oversight of the financial outcome and overall success of each project. He serves as the primary client contact, with ultimate responsibility for ensuring client satisfaction. Jeff works closely with client representatives and oversight committees to meet specified project goals. He supports the project team in all aspects of preconstruction and construction, including estimating, subcontract negotiation, reporting, scheduling, accounting, quality, safety, claims management, profit projections, and day-today challenges.
