Gloria J. Davis Appointed Commissioner to Los Angeles County Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development
On the recommendation of the Honorable Holly J. Mitchell, Supervisor, 2nd District, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors appointed Gloria J. Davis as a Commissioner on the Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development. Ms. Gloria J. Davis serves as Executive Director of the Girls Club of Los Angeles.
She is a Co-Founder and on the Executive Leadership of the Early Learning Alliance (ELA), as well as an Immediate Past President of the Southern California Chapter (SCC) of the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAAEYC). She has served on the CAAEYC Board as Accreditation Chair, Treasurer, and Vice President of Membership.
The Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development‘s mission is to lead, build, and strengthen an affordable and high-quality early care and education system for children and families in Los Angeles County. The 24 Commission members represent community leaders‘ collective experience, expertise, and wisdom in early childhood, education, business, economics, and research. The Girls Club of Los Angeles (GCLA) was established in 1972. Its mission is to enrich the lives of at-promise children, youth, and families through early education, youth development, and community outreach, contributing to self sufficient, productive individuals. The award-winning organization serves South Los Angeles families at every age and stage of life. The core services include early learning, youth development programs, workforce preparation, food distribution, foster grandparents volunteer program, and other life sustaining services. The long- term success of GCLA is in its ability to rise to many of the challenges presented to South Los Angeles residents. It has served over 150,000 children, seniors, and families through various programs.
