MICHAEL MACDONALD NAMED PRESIDENT OF CALIFORNIA BANK & TRUST
California Bank & Trust (CB&T), a division of Zions Bancorporation, N.A., has appointed Michael MacDonald as President. Reporting to CEO Eric Ellingsen, MacDonald will oversee CB&T’s Commercial, Corporate and Specialty Industry banking businesses, while working closely with the leadership team on the bank’s broader strategic execution and market expansion across California.
A seasoned financial executive with extensive leadership experience, MacDonald will also continue to lead Zions Capital Markets and serve on the Executive Management Committee of Zions Bancorporation. His dual role reinforces CB&T’s ability to combine relationship-driven regional banking with sophisticated, institutional-scale capital solutions.
Before joining Zions in 2016, Michael was managing director and head of Power & Project Finance at CIT, where he led teams of industry specialists in Los Angeles and New York. He joined CIT through its acquisition of OneWest Bank, where he served as executive vice president and successfully launched and scaled the bank’s Power & Project Finance business.
Earlier in his career, Michael held project finance origination roles with MUFG Union Bank in Los Angeles and investment banking positions with Wachovia Securities in Charlotte. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Wake Forest University.
