Little more than a year into her tenure at one of the nation’s most prestigious law firms, Melissa Mills has established herself as a trial lawyer capable of parachuting into matters of the highest stakes. To her private practice, Mills brings a background as a federal prosecutor and military lawyer, having conducted trials everywhere from Los Angeles to a foreign combat zone.
Shortly after arriving last year at the Los Angeles office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Mills was asked to play a critical role in a case brought by Vanessa Bryant, the widow of Kobe Bryant. The August 2022 jury trial arose from the emotional distress caused by Los Angeles County employees who used their personal smartphones to take and gratuitously disseminate graphic photographs of the site of the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.
