Jason Tokoro, a partner with Miller Barondess, LLP, is an accomplished trial lawyer with significant victories for both plaintiffs and defendants. He is outside counsel for the County of Los Angeles and its Board of Supervisors.
Tokoro defended the County as 2nd chair in an 11-day federal jury trial involving photographs taken by County personnel following the tragic helicopter crash that killed nine individuals, including Kobe Bryant and his daughter; won a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling vacating a preliminary injunction ordering that the County and the City of Los Angeles house skid row’s homeless population within six months and deposit $1 billion into an escrow account to ensure the funds were being used appropriately; and won summary judgment on behalf of the County in a FLSA class action lawsuit relating to the State’s IHSS program, in which plaintiffs sought nearly $50 million.
