Just passing the five-year mark as executive vice president of Shawmut Design and Construction’s West region, Greg Skalaski has led the Los Angeles team in diversifying its offerings and increasing its average project size. With a focus on growing its education, ground-up commercial, and life science portfolio, the team completed major projects in the past year: UCLA’s Nimoy Theater; one of the largest cross-laminated timber buildings in the city at 843 N Spring Street; and 50,000 square feet of lab space (repurposed from a warehouse and office building).
With more than 20 years of experience working on Los Angeles projects, Skalaski understands the unique impact of supply chain volatility and labor challenges on construction in Southern California, and has built out a skilled preconstruction team to identify and resolve issues before a project begins, providing certainty of outcome for clients.
