Cynthia Mitchell-Heard’s appointment as president and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League represents the culmination of more than 25 years devoted to nonprofit management, government, philanthropy and community advancement. A nationally recognized social-impact strategist, coalition builder and philanthropic change agent.
Mitchell-Heard became Los Angeles Urban League’s first female chief operating officer and, in 2023, the first woman in more than 90 years to lead the organization as president and CEO. Her advancement within the League reflects the natural progression of a career dedicated to strengthening institutions that serve communities too often excluded from economic opportunity.
