Karla V. Salazar is a strategic nonprofit leader whose accomplishments have transformed ScholarMatch – a leading college access and success organization – and have impacted the lives of low-income and first generation students in Los Angeles.
Among Salazar’s most notable accomplishments is the development of a new initiative to serve students in Southeast Los Angeles, a region widely recognized as a college access service desert. Salazar galvanized partnerships with funders, school districts, and community leaders, culminating in a $1.2 million seed grant from the Ballmer Group to support students from this region. Salazar also secured a $2 million multiyear grant from the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation to expand the organization’s Scholars Program.
