MARTINE SINGER
President & CEO
Children’s Institute
Martine Singer is the president & CEO of Children’s Institute. Despite her professional accomplishments on Wall Street and in large media companies, she found her work fundamentally unsatisfying. She took a leap, dropped out of the business world and began volunteering at Hollygrove, a former orphanage where Marilyn Monroe had lived as a child. She volunteered in its special education classroom, working one-on-one with kids that were several grade levels behind due to their trauma history and multiple foster care placements.
After serving as president & CEO of Para Los Niños, a nonprofit agency based in LA’s Skid Row, Singer has (since 2016) served as the president & CEO of Children’s Institute, which has revenues of over $100 million and a workforce of 1,000. With over 38 locations in distressed communities including Watts, Compton and Wilmington, Children’s Institute serves nearly 30,000 children and families each year.
